Universitat Jaume I

Universitat Jaume I (UJI), located in the city of Castellón de la Plana, is a public higher education and research institution, founded in 1991. Its mission is to support the ocial, economic, and cultural development of the local community through the creation and dissemination of knowledge.

It is the northernmost public university in the Valencian Community and the only one in the province of Castelló, making UJI a key player in transforming Castellón de la Plana into a vibrant and modern university city. This transformation has fostered the entrepreneurial spirit of its residents, promoting significant social and economic growth throughout the province.

UJI currently offers 30 undergraduate degrees, 47 official master’s programs, 16 UJI-specific master’s courses, and 39 specialisation courses. With around 12,000 students enrolled, the University ensures personalised attention and avoids overcrowding. This student-centered approach is further supported by its compact and modern campus, which includes spacious green areas and sports facilities. The campus is also fully accessible, with no architectural barriers for people with disabilities.

The University employs more than 1,300 academic staff and 600 administrative staff, and in its relatively short history, it has graduated over 22,000 students. UJI is also highly active in research, participating in numerous high-quality research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) projects and collaborations.

In 2008, UJI’s commitment to quality in academic and administrative services was recognized with the European Excellence Gold Seal 500+, awarded by the Excellence in Management Club, following the model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). This distinction, renewed every two years, reflects the university community’s dedication to establishing Universitat Jaume I as a leading public institution known for its educational excellence, research, cultural engagement, and regional impact.
